Lavender Brown has been cast!

One of the most anticipated roles in the Harry Potter movies has finally been cast! Lavender Brown, who is Ron Weasley's annoying love interest, is being played by Jessie Cave. Cave beat out over seven thousuand audtionees, and won the role. Although she is playing a sixteen year old girl, Cave is actually twenty years old. Below is a picture of the lucky girl. Hmmm... has anyone noticed that she is not black? It has been noted more than once in the first novel, and in the books following, that Lavender is African American. As puzzling as this is, I wonder if the director knew that he cast the wrong girl, or if he just decided to ignore the fact that Jessie Cave is as different from Lavender Brown as possible.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Movie!

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince movie will be released in November 2008. Is it me, or does that seem wayyy too long from now? This novel, in my opinion was one of the best books in the series. Although I hated the end, I loved the storyline and how all the characters changed at the end. Many fan sites have some sneak previews for the upcoming movie, though sadly, you must insert a dvd of the fifth movie, and only then will you be able to view this four minute clip. Luckily, someone managed to upload this clip on youtube.com so everyone will be able to see it! Hooray! This movie will be alot more intense and mature then the previous ones, as Ron (Rupert Grint) will have quite a few love interests. Also Harry will be acquiring his first real girlfriend, Ginny Weasley (yes i know, there was Cho Chang, but she doesn't count for me). As excited as I am to watch this mvie, i don't know if I will be able to handle when Dumdledore dies :(. Keep your eyes out for the sixth movie of Harry Potter...not coming soon.

OK SHE REALLY NEEDS TO STOP SUING PEOPLE!

Will this ever end? Lately all Rowling has been doing is filing lawsuits... against the people who love her books the most. Rowling has recently filed a lawsuit against a small publisher who wished to publish a book on his famous Potter fan site, the lexicon. The publisher hoped to release the 400 page encyclopedia, and thought that Rowling would be supportive and impressed with his novel. He was instead shocked and disappointed to learn that Rowling was far from supportive. Rowling claims that this book would "interfere" with her plans to create an everything you need to know about harry potter book. The creator of the website, Steve Vander Ark still does not understand why Rowling would sue him. In the past he has recieved an award from Rowling for his incredible site, and has been an important figure in Harry Potter marketing. Vander Ark is not fazed though, he says that he will not allow this to affect him and his publishing plans. Good for him! I must say that Rowling is getting a tad bit out of hand with this whole suing business. She sues websites, publishers and even worse her fans! It's not even that she needs the money...she has plenty. All of this fame and fortune is going to this billionare's head, and she has started thinking that whatever she wants done, will be done, and whoever she wants sued, will be sued. And the worst thing is, that it is true because she is so rich and famous and all that. So the point I'm trying to make here, is that SHE IS OUT OF CONTROL, and quite frankly, somebody needs to stop her.

Why J.K Rowling's fans are starting to hate her (including me!)

J.K Rowling has lately been losing her most passionate fans as more Potter secrets are being revealed. Rowling just announced that she had written the book that Dumbledore had gifted to Hermione in the seventh book, The Beedle of Bard. This limited edition novel features five wizarding fairytales, and was personally crafted by Rowling herself... but heres the catch, Only seven of these magical books have been published, six of which that have already been given to,"those most closely connected to the Harry Potter books during the last 17 years". This leaves only one novel, which is soon becoming the most wanted book throughout fans who would do anything for a chance to look through these secret pages. This is completely unfair, seeing as this book will be auctioned off, meaning only the richest will be able to buy it. What about the obsessed fans who can't afford to buy a multi thousand dollar book? Even worse, apparently the contents of this book are being kept secret, so the annoying little rich fan whose parents will buy it for him/her, is the only person who will be able to read it. This is not right at all, Rowling should have published more books. First the announcement of Dumbledore being gay, then her suing for rights to a Potter Encyclopedia, and now this...What will this billionare author do next to lose her fans?

New Series by Rowling?

There have been many many rumors flying around after the seventh Potter book was released, about Rowling creating a whole new series, either about Voldemort, James Potter,Lily Evans or perhaps the most popular, a series following Albus Dumbledore throughout his life. Most of these rumors were started by creative fans who hoped the author would take their ideas. So far there has been no news about Rowling writing more books about Harry Potter. However, fans became increasingly excited as they heard that Rowling had been spotted over the summer in several caffes in Scotland writing what looked like,"a criminal detective novel". In previous interviews, Rowling had mentioned that she thought it highly unlikely that she would continue the Harry Potter series, but that she hoped to create an encyclopedia that would contain everything there was to know about Harry Potter, after the seventh novel was released. Too bad for her though, since an american publisher already decided to publish an encyclopedia to go along with the Harry Potter novels. Apparently J.K Rowling was so upset that she filed a lawsuit against the publisher, claiming he stole her idea. Of course, Rowling will probably win... because after all, she is J.K Rowling.

DUMBLEDORE IS GAY?!?!

DUMBLEDORE IS GAY?!? These are the words shocked fans have been repeating all over the world, since J.K Rowling dropped the latest Potter bomb, at Carnegie Hall in New York on October 20th. Apparently, Albus Dumbledore, headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was in love with Gellert Grindelwald, his childhood friend, and was heartbroken when it turned out that Grindelwald was deeply interested in the Dark Arts. Feedback so far has been mostly positive, fans have been very supportive of J.K Rowlings decision, since there are not many popular gay characters in books. There is however, negative feedback from fans who believe revealing his sexuality was completely unnecessary. I for one, am one of those fans. This revealing information was totally uncalled for. I still don't undersatnd why she would divulge this after all seven books were out. Why didn't she tell us before? Rowling states that apparently, the topic never came up. Alright readers, thats all for now from potterpassion. I will be back soon, with all fresh news for fans.
p.s below are some dumbledore pride tees that have been circulating. To get your own visit boingboing.com for details.
